About this page

This page provides important public-facing information about ImpactKits, our programs, donations, website, communications, and organizational practices. It is intended to promote transparency and explain the general policies and disclosures applicable to individuals and organizations who interact with ImpactKits.
Certain activities may be subject to additional requirements, procedures, agreements, consent forms, or applicable law.
About ImpactKits
The ImpactKits Project is a student-led community service initiative established to advance its charitable and community-service purposes.
ImpactKits is fiscally sponsored by The Hack Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization within the United States (EIN: 81-2908499).
ImpactKits operates under a fiscal sponsorship relationship with The Hack Foundation. Accordingly, certain charitable contributions made through approved donation channels are received and administered in accordance with the requirements of our fiscal sponsor.
ImpactKits does not represent that it is itself a separately incorporated or independently tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.
Our commitment
ImpactKits is committed to conducting its activities with integrity, transparency, accountability, fairness, respect, and responsible stewardship of resources.
We seek to serve communities responsibly and equitably; use donated resources consistently with our charitable purposes; communicate honestly with the public, donors, partners, and community members; protect information entrusted to us; maintain appropriate safeguards for participants and community members; comply with applicable laws and regulations; address legitimate concerns in good faith; and continually improve our programs and organizational practices.
Our commitments reflect the standards we seek to uphold across our programs, partnerships, communications, and operations.
Privacy
ImpactKits collects information reasonably necessary to operate our programs, communicate with supporters and community members, process inquiries, facilitate donations, maintain organizational records, and operate our website and related services.
Depending on how an individual interacts with ImpactKits, information may include names, contact information, email addresses, information voluntarily submitted through website forms, donation-related information, communications submitted to ImpactKits, information necessary to administer programs or events, and technical information associated with website use.
ImpactKits does not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We do not intentionally disclose personal information to third parties for their independent advertising, marketing, or commercial purposes.
Information may be shared with service providers, our fiscal sponsor, technology providers, program partners, or other parties when reasonably necessary to operate our programs and organization, process donations, provide requested services, maintain essential systems, protect individuals or organizational assets, comply with applicable law, or fulfill fiscal sponsorship and charitable obligations.
ImpactKits may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, court orders, governmental requests, or to protect the safety, rights, property, or security of ImpactKits or others.
We take reasonable measures to protect information within our control. However, no website, electronic communication system, database, or method of transmitting or storing information can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, maintain appropriate organizational and financial records, satisfy legal or compliance obligations, resolve disputes, and support legitimate organizational activities.
Where information concerns individuals under the age of 18, additional consent, authorization, or safeguarding requirements may apply depending on the nature of the information and the circumstances in which it is collected or used.
Individuals may contact hello@impactkits.org with questions or requests concerning personal information.
Our full Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Donations
ImpactKits accepts donations of supplies and, when available, monetary contributions through approved donation channels.

Monetary contributions made through these systems are administered in partnership with The Hack Foundation, ImpactKits' fiscal sponsor.

Tax-deductible contributions
Only contributions made through an approved fiscal sponsorship channel and accepted in accordance with the requirements of The Hack Foundation may be eligible for a charitable tax deduction, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
A contribution is not automatically tax-deductible merely because it is made to, for, or in support of ImpactKits.
Physical donations, including supplies contributed through collection bins, in-person drop-offs, direct purchases, or other informal donation arrangements, are not represented by ImpactKits as tax-deductible contributions. Similarly, purchasing items for ImpactKits through third-party retailers or wish lists does not automatically qualify as a charitable contribution eligible for a tax deduction.
The tax treatment of a contribution depends on the nature of the contribution, the manner in which it is processed, applicable law, and the donor's individual circumstances.
ImpactKits does not provide tax, legal, or accounting advice. Donors are responsible for determining the tax treatment of their contributions and should consult a qualified professional regarding their individual circumstances.
Donated goods & supplies
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, once a donated item has been accepted by ImpactKits, the donor relinquishes ownership and control of that item.
Accepted donated goods may be distributed to individuals or families, provided to partner organizations, incorporated into care kits, repackaged or combined with other donations, stored for current or future programs, used in support of ImpactKits activities, or otherwise handled in a manner consistent with our charitable purposes and operational needs.
ImpactKits does not guarantee that a donated item will be distributed to a particular individual, family, organization, location, or program.
ImpactKits reserves the right to decline any donation that it determines, in its reasonable discretion, to be unsafe, damaged, expired, unsanitary, inappropriate, unlawful, impractical to store or distribute, or otherwise unsuitable for our programs.
When reasonably practical, declined items may be returned to the donor. If return is impractical or would require unreasonable transportation, storage, administrative, or financial resources, ImpactKits may, in its discretion, transfer, donate, recycle, dispose of, or otherwise appropriately handle the item.
Donation records & acknowledgments
ImpactKits and/or its fiscal sponsor may maintain records concerning contributions for accounting, reporting, administrative, compliance, and charitable purposes.
Where applicable, contribution acknowledgments or receipts may be issued by The Hack Foundation, an approved donation platform, or another authorized party.
ImpactKits does not guarantee that a donor will receive a particular tax form, receipt, deduction, valuation, or other tax treatment.
Donors are responsible for retaining appropriate records relating to their contributions.
Non-discrimination
ImpactKits is committed to treating all individuals with dignity, fairness, and respect.
ImpactKits does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, religion, creed, sex, pregnancy, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, medical condition, marital status, veteran status, genetic information, socioeconomic status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
This commitment applies to ImpactKits programs, services, public engagement, partnerships, communications, organizational activities, and other applicable operations.
Our complete standards and procedures are provided in our Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination Policy.

ImpactKits strives to make its website, public communications, programs, and community activities reasonably accessible.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier or require a reasonable accommodation to access an ImpactKits program, website feature, communication, or other service, please contact hello@impactkits.org.
We will consider reasonable requests based on the circumstances, applicable requirements, the nature of the activity or service, and available organizational resources.

ImpactKits may photograph, record, or otherwise document public programs, events, community initiatives, kit assembly activities, and other organizational activities.
Subject to applicable law and any required consent procedures, photographs, videos, audio recordings, and other media may be used for legitimate organizational purposes, including educational materials, historical documentation, our website, social media, presentations, grant applications and reports, fundraising and donor communications, newsletters and publications, annual reports, and other ImpactKits communications.
Where an activity requires specific consent or a media release, ImpactKits may use a separate consent process. For individuals under the age of 18, additional parental or guardian authorization may be required before photographs, recordings, or identifying information are used publicly, as appropriate to the activity and applicable requirements.
Individuals who do not wish to appear in photographs or recordings should notify an ImpactKits representative as early as reasonably possible.
ImpactKits cannot guarantee that an individual will never appear incidentally in background footage or photographs taken during public or group activities.

Programs & organizational capacity
ImpactKits operates through a student-led, community-based model supported by an Executive Leadership Team, organizational departments, volunteers, and external partners. As a developing initiative, ImpactKits has limited financial, operational, technological, and administrative resources.
We make reasonable efforts to operate responsibly within our available capacity. However, we cannot guarantee that every request for assistance, donation, partnership, program participation, inquiry, or other service can be accepted or fulfilled.
Program availability, eligibility, distribution methods, collection locations, and other activities may change based on community needs, available resources, funding, supply availability, partner requirements, operational capacity, safety considerations, and other circumstances affecting our ability to operate a particular program.
Submitting an inquiry, request, application, donation, or other communication does not create a guarantee that ImpactKits will accept, approve, provide, distribute, or fulfill a requested service, benefit, or form of assistance.
No professional advice
Unless expressly identified otherwise, information provided by ImpactKits through its website, publications, communications, social media, or other public materials is provided for general informational or educational purposes.
Such information does not constitute legal, medical, financial, tax, accounting, mental health, or other professional advice.

Limitation of responsibility
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ImpactKits does not assume responsibility for losses, damages, injuries, delays, interruptions, or other consequences arising from circumstances outside ImpactKits' reasonable control, reliance on general website information, use of third-party services, or participation in activities where separate terms or notices apply.
Nothing in these policies or disclosures is intended to waive, exclude, or limit any right, remedy, liability, protection, or obligation that cannot lawfully be waived, excluded, or limited.
Where a separate written agreement, waiver, release, consent form, or other legally applicable document governs a particular activity or transaction, that document may contain additional terms and requirements.
Complaints & policy concerns
ImpactKits welcomes good-faith complaints, concerns, questions, and reports regarding our programs, conduct, policies, communications, or organizational practices.
Anyone who believes that ImpactKits has violated an applicable policy, acted inconsistently with its stated commitments, engaged in inappropriate conduct, or otherwise created a significant concern is encouraged to contact our designated representative:
Reports should include sufficient information for ImpactKits to understand the nature of the concern and, where appropriate, respond appropriately. ImpactKits will review complaints received in good faith and take reasonable steps to determine an appropriate response based on the nature and seriousness of the matter.
Depending on the circumstances, ImpactKits may request additional information, review relevant records, consult organizational leadership or advisors, communicate with affected parties, involve its fiscal sponsor, or take other appropriate corrective or responsive action.
ImpactKits will make reasonable efforts to protect the privacy of individuals involved in a complaint. However, complete confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where disclosure is necessary to investigate or address a matter, protect someone's safety, comply with applicable law, or fulfill organizational responsibilities.
Good-faith reporting of a concern should not result in retaliation.
Nothing in this section prevents any individual from contacting an appropriate governmental, regulatory, law-enforcement, emergency, or other authority when permitted or required by law.
Policy updates
ImpactKits may revise these policies and disclosures periodically to reflect changes in our programs, operations, technology, organizational structure, legal requirements, or organizational practices.
